The Yellowwood café at Ivy Tech Community College–Bloomington is open to the public this semester after a nearly 1 1/2-year pandemic closure. The Yellowwood is a student-run restaurant through the Hospitality Administration program. Operations are a collaboration between culinary, baking and pastry, and customer service classes.

The culinary program at Ivy Tech–Bloomington was recently ranked 17th in the nation by bestchoiceschools.com, placing seven spots ahead of the esteemed Johnson & Wales University, a well-known top culinary school in the country.

Ivy Tech–Bloomington’s hospitality associate degree program and baking and pastry concentration are accredited by the American Culinary Federation (ACF) through 2027. The program has extensive certification and associate degree offerings that can be completed in two to four semesters. Certificates and associate degrees in the program lead to industry-recognized credentials that qualify graduates for in-demand jobs in the changing field of food service.

The hospitality wing at Ivy Tech–Bloomington has nearly 10,000 square feet of dedicated space that includes a state-of-the-art baking lab, two kitchens, a restaurant, an outdoor patio, garden, coolers, and changing rooms.

Ivy Tech–Bloomington accepts free applications year-round at ivytech.edu/apply, and has classes that start multiple times per year for quick entry and graduation.
