Photographers of Bloom: Nicole McPheeters

Nicole McPheeters is a graduate of Indiana University, where she received her B.A. in journalism with an emphasis on gender and photojournalism.

A Brown County, Indiana, native, McPheeters says her interests have always been rooted in gender and human rights but grew to include public health after she traveled to Kampala, Uganda, to report on the HIV/AIDS crisis. While abroad, her work focused on cross-generational relationships, sex work, transgender living, and sanitation efforts for young women.
